Gordon Dillon, the Key West, Flordia police chief, arrested a newspaper
editor for printing an article that criticized an police investigation.
The proper punishment would seem to be arresting Dillon in turn, but,
since that doesn't seem likely to happen, I wish the ACLU and the
newspaper editor, Dennis Cooper, well in their lawsuit.

ACLU sues Key West police chief for arresting publisher
Saturday, December 22, 2001
Associated Press
KEY WEST -- The American Civil Liberties Union sued the city's police
chief Friday on behalf of a newspaper publisher arrested after he ran
articles alleging a cover-up of police wrongdoing.
Dennis Cooper, publisher and editor of the weekly Key West The
Newspaper, alleges in his suit that Police Chief Gordon "Buz" Dillon
arrested him illegally and violated his First Amendment rights. He is
seeking unspecified damages.
"The numerous unacceptable actions of this particular police chief and
the failure of elected city officials to curb his abuses made this
lawsuit inevitable," Cooper said.
Dillon did not immediately return a phone call Friday seeking comment.
