So I did a little digging. Bill Purdy has not registered 1, 2, or even 10 domain names. I walked the DNS tree (I have access to the raw tld zones). There are 154 domain names that reference "washingtonpost". Out of these 154 domain names, a staggering 52 (over 1/3rd) appear to be registered to Bill. In addition to this being an incredible waste of money, I see it really as tort. While I don't condone whois slamming, here is the list of domain names that he appears to have registered. Note that some 20% of them (10/52) were registered in 2003 alone. Speech freedom is paramount, but isn't this a little too far?
